Greetings in DISC (41:37)
Greeting others seems simple enough. Most of us probably use the same greeting for everyone. If we're greeting a lot of people, it sure makes it easier for us, but not effective. Here's how to start making a better first impression even earlier in a conversation or professional exchange.
Identifying and Communicating with Each Style
Each of the following Manager Tools podcasts helps identify the style and how to communicate more effectively when reporting, delegating, giving feedback, and coaching each style.
The "D" in DiSC (38:04)
The “I” in DiSC (53:26)
The "S" in DiSC (58:47)
The "C" in DiSC (43:46)
Task Management for each style
- Task Management and the High D (30:09) Careers are built on results and relationships. This episode covers what the High D does well, and where they can do better.
- Task Management for High I's (32:00) High I's are practically allergic to task lists. A High I's mind is occupied with all the fabulous things that are happening in the present or will happen in the future, not the things they've committed to in the past.
- Task Management and the High S (22:08)
High S's are known for being diligent. If you need something done, your High S wants to do it for you. The problem is that they want to get things done for everyone else who is asking too. In addition, High S's are people people - they put the person before the task. This can mean that their tasks don't get done. - Task Management and High Cs (24:47)
If there was a DiSC profile born to have the perfect task management system, it's High C's. Their focus on detail and their love of checking things off a list makes a task management system obvious to them in a way it's not for a High I or a High S. That said, they can also find themselves trapped by their task management system.
Meetings for each style
- Meetings And High D's - Manager Tools Podcast (25:24) High D's feel that every meeting is long and rambling. They need to mitigate their worst behaviors and help others with the skills they're good at.
- Meetings And High I's - Manager Tools Podcast (23:26) High I's are known for their relationship skills and their ideas. Within the confines of a meeting though, they can get off track and take others with them.
- Meetings And The High S - Manager Tools Podcast (25:18) High S's are almost too polite for their own good. In meetings, they are sometimes so concerned that everyone else gets heard that they don't get heard themselves.
- Meetings and High C - Manager Tools Podcast (26:32) Between the number of people, the limited time available, and the need to make quick decisions, the High C is left with none of the things that make them comfortable.
