Looking for a new job? Start here.

For anyone looking for a job, here are some resources, the most important of which is the book Never Search Alone: A Job Seeker’s Playbook by Phyl Terry.

The book has you apply product principles to your career to find “Candidate Market Fit.” The first step is to join or create a Job Search Council (JSC) with 5 other job seekers to support each other. It’s often easier to help others than focus on yourself. You then identify what you love and hate so you can create your must-haves and must-nots for a new job. You then do a listening tour with people you have worked with, others in similar roles, and recruiters to tweak that list and find your candidate market fit. Here’s my Mnookin Two-Pager which is the document that you list and share your learnings from this process.

They have a free service that will match you to a JSC. If you’re interested, I’d sign up earlier than later. You don’t have to have read the book to join a JSC. In fact, you read a chapter or two each week between meetings. Sign up on Phyl.org.

I went through the process and volunteered to be a moderator for my JSC. I would be happy to answer any questions you have and help in any way I can.
